this idea of a multi-cultural utopia is the quickest route to bloodshed and racism. Why is there this need to put all these races, religions and cultures together, mix them up and expect everyone to be dancing around holding hands. I have nothing but repsect for different cultures and ways of life, i travelled a lot and consider myself far from narrow minded. But they should be over there and we should be here. Why fly all the way to Inida to experience Inida, Leciester's only an hour up the M1.
And to compare the cultures.
example A: Muslim extremists kill 52 people on july 7th 2005 - Reprisals - well none that make the press anyway.
example B - Danish newspaper prints 'offensive' cartoon
Reprisas - Muslim culture across the world goes insane, burning flags, destroying embassies, preaching about killing eveything western.
They could of just shrugged their shoulders and said 'we dont care'. But instead they showed the world their true colours.

They're totally useless with illegal immigrants. If someone comes here and lives here for 10 years without any visa and a passport expired long time ago, isn't it the system's fault, because it allows it? British people then start hating ALL the immigrants and take it out on immigrants from new EU countries - the legal ones. I'm from Slovakia, but I came here before we joined EU, I was an au pair. But even I think that there's too many Poles and allowing Romania to join EU was a bit too much.

The UK does have a real problem that it created a long time ago. Great briton and the comonwelth along with the nations that it colonized in the past add up to the fact that unless something is done to slow the flow of people into the UK drasticaly the UK will soon not exist. Well not as a ntion.

Immigration, Discuss. Lies, deceit, hate, racism. From where I stand unfortunately, most of these problems are caused by immigration and from personal experience, it is the immigrants themselves that are doing it. The natives are just fighting back,to be expected I think. Before the accusations start to fly, I didn't say it was right!

A joke. Blair and his lot could not manage a stall at a WI sale. We once had a good record of immigration. Saint Tony ( he hopes) decided the world would salute him if we opened the doors to everyone. I think he is a communist infiltrate who is trying to destabilise our country before a foreign power takes over.

Panacea you're paranoid! I take it you have never lived in France - the picture you paint is unrecognisable!
The UK has made a bit of a mess with immigration, as it has with most things, but at the same time most people just get on with their lives, whatever press and politicians say, people are integrating on a day-to-day basis, getting married, having kids...
The reaction to Islamic terrorism is one that people should be proud of - although there have been some racist attacks, and a lot of rubbish in the papers, most people just get by and, whatever their worries or opinions, do not give in to racist propaganda. It's a shame that our leaders are so spineless in face of the Daily Mail and co.
Many people I have met feel that the racial situation is more relaxed in UK than in France or Germany, but we've still go a long way to go to match Canada!

"That country has roving gangs of muslims grabbing women off the street and gang raping them."
Ha, calm down dear! I doubt you have any evidence of this, and I've certainly not read about it in any newspapers or academic journals, it's just the usual stories to make us fear 'other's'. Of course there have been riots in France between immigrants and the indigenous population, but this has been due to poverty, segregation and a feeling of having no hope in a society that perhaps doesn't want you around.
As for immigration in general, historically it has brought huge advantages for my country (the UK) and there are many groups who have settled succesfully and added to the culture of the UK, such as the Chinese, Indians and Pakistani's. After groups such as the Indias FOUGHT and DIED for our country after we had stripped their country of its assets for centuries, the least we could do was allow them a place in UK society, and they came here to find work, more often than not work which the British would not perform. Second generation Asians as an example are now highly successful in many sectors, and do very well in the education system due to a drive and determination which English kids don't have anymore, partly due to the dissintegration of the family, whereas Asian families tend to retain strong links.
Now we have people coming to the UK from the new EU member countries, and all the tabloid press are getting into a huff that they're 'taking over', but most studies suggest that Polish males are coming to the UK, filling empty jobs PAYING TAX and sending money home at the same time, then after a period of a few years, return home to their families. I can';t see how this is a problem, especially as many young males in the UK prefer to lie around on welfare, not getting a job and we need a more dynamic work force if Britain is to compete in the climate of 21st century globalisation. One thing I don't want to see are businesses exploiting Polish etc newcomers for cheap labour, because many have much higher qualifications than the work they do suggests (eg, qualified doctors in food processing) and no one should be exploited.
The idea that there's some wave of Islamic fundamentalists decending on the UK is again a tabloid myth. Most Muslins living in the UK have been here for generations and have played a part in making Britain an economic force again in the reconstruction of the country post-WW2. Now though a number of disatisfied young men are turning to fundamentalist versions of Islam as they feel out of place and at odds with their surroundings. We wont stop this by shutting our borders... these people ARE BRITISH, they are not immigrants. The July 7th bombers were English and had regional accents. They have as much right as me (a white English male) to be in this country enjoying its rights and freedom's. Something must be done, one being intelligence services clamping down on clerics etc inciting racism, and perhaps creating a climate of intergration rather than multiculteralism from now on. The Muslim community needs to do more as well, which is something that is starkly obvious after watching 'Undercover Mosque' on Channel 4 recently, which showed many clerics and Imhams who are supposedly 'mainstream' spouting despicable propaganda.

Well I think that the Swiss have the best policy. You have to know the language. When one takes on immigrants its a blessing to the newly arrived. In turn they have to assimilate into the host population at large., The fact that there is a Londonistan does not bode well for the avrage Brit.

its very bad, too many immigrants have been allowed in the uk...i also think that by doing this that political parties like the BNP will grow stronger as people who are not racist will vote for them because they feel that these immigrants get better benefits than brits do and they dont like it...which is understandable...brits should always come 1st.....and the BNP will ensure this happens should they get in power
