Why do Americans think we Aussies have kangaroos and crocodiles all over the place!?

every american thinks we have kangaroos roaming our streets and stuff
why are they so uneducated? They also think we catch crocodiles. Ive only seen one at the zoo my whole life

My friend went to america, and everyone he met asked him how many crocodiles he had caught and if he swims with sharks and if he has kangaroos and stuff

its just like some others think Americans are all materialistic, Christian, and eat hamburgers,,,,,, but i can assure you all Americans dont think you have those animals running around everywhere

We all think that way a little bit. I am a Canadian and understand crocodiles live in very specific regions, but actually thought kangaroos were everywhere, like the deer are here in Canada, (everywhere but cities, and even there too some places!).

I mean, Crikey! Do Americans have drug dealers all over the place?

I was sitting at our American table, eating hambergers as we like to do together (all 300 million of us, at one table)

because if they havn't actually been there then they would have seen movies and stuff about them in which there are kangaroos and crocodiles. i also think that catching crocs is horrible unless thy NEED to be caught!

I blame it on the "MOVIES", TV and TV Commericals. For whatever reason they seem to emphasize crocks, koala bears, rustic living and characters like Crocodile Dundee.
Blame it on Hollywood.

well its just the main image you see of austrailia.... a kangaroo hopping around in some desert.. most people would be completely shocked if you even said you had winter... and its not just australia, i mean the only picture you see of alaska is snow and more snow and of france.. the eiffel tower and of the usa it is basically new york city...
