When I got the truck from my uncle there was a small tick in the transmission. We always thought it was the clutch but the clutch went out and now the noise is worse. The noise now consist of a whine and a grinding sound. I took it to a transmission place right after I got it back from fixing the clutch and they told me it didnt have any fluid... But when the clutch was fixed I was told they just replaced it but within a few days the fluid was gone??? I don;t know exacly how to check it myself but I have been told it is on the back side of the engine. Can anyone help me and my TRANSMISSION!!!

There are two pipe threaded plugs on the side of the trans. One is for filling and the other is for draining the fluid completely. All you have to do is remove the top one and the fluid will either dribble out indicating it is full or stick you finger inside the trans. and feel how high the fluid is and top up as nec. I think these trans. take automatic fluid, the red Dexron stuff. Yes, if the clutch was just replaced, they most likely would have dumped fresh fluid into it. Did they forget to put the fluid in? Anyways make sure the fluid is full before driving anymore as these are major league expensive to repair or replace. Once full check for leaks and then repair the leaks. Good luck.

Well, if the tranny fluid is leaking, more than likely it is the rear seal that has gone bye-bye. It puts up with the driveshaft spinning on it constantly...the driveshaft can allow dirt to come in and eat the seal...
If it is the clutch fluid, then your slave cylinder is out, but then it would feel like you have no clutch pedal, and you can never disengage the clutch...
You want to hope it is the rear seal...

crack an egg into the radiator no longer into the reservoir. i comprehend it sounds spectacular yet its an old trick. if that fixes it for a on the same time as you have a leak in all probability at a hose end or some thing alongside those strains. till you have cloudy oil it is not a head gasket.
