I am an atheist myself but I have always been baffled by my fellow atheists' need to take away religion from believers.

What gives? Do these people have the ultimate resentment for authority?

I know what you mean. I've often wondered if they were trying to prove to themselves that they were right because they had doubts about their own beliefs.

I don't feel a need to take religion away from anyone and this is never my objective when I answer questions here. But I see that there are many atheists here who just want to bash religion and I don't like that either. I feel that when atheists want to "convert" people to atheism they are not better than the preaching Christians. Everyone's faith or lack of it should be respected. Most of the questions I answer here are those that are addressed to atheists, I mean when someone asks me what I believe or don't believe I reply and explain. It doesn't mean that I want to "convert" them.

what number cases ought to this question be responded? This communicate board is for non secular communicate, it would not state it is barely should you've a faith. There are people right here who're only as interested in what Atheists believe as what different beliefs are. I have had many deliver me messages thanking me for what I wrote. also, you do not must have a faith to be non secular, I evaluate myself a non secular human being and an Atheist. there is a few right here who're only right here to rile issues up, yet I see a group of non secular individuals right here for the same reason.

Why are *you* here, then? : )

I'm here because of a longstanding fascination with why people believe what they believe. This is a good place to learn things.

I'm also here because I *am* a spiritual person. Belief in god is not a prerequisite to that.

I'm also here to provide a contrary viewpoint to some issues, which is the point of an open forum.

And I'm here to have a good time!

My presence here does not take anything away from anyone. I don't flatter myself that my words can sway the truly pious. But if I make them stop and think, or better yet -- go look something up for themselves -- I am happy.

This forum is about religious and spiritual beliefs. Atheism falls into that category. It is their beliefs and views. So it fits. They only thing I do not understand is why many of them feel the need to express their views in such non constructive manners as if putting down or insulting another views is some how going to make theirs look better.

How a person expresses themselves says a lot about that person. The first impression is often the lasting impression (this goes to all sides in this forum).

It's human nature. Just like religious people, they want others to believe in the way in which they believe. But from personal experience with atheists, I find they are a lot more aggressive in the way they feel. For instance, a friend of mine heard that a priest had molested a boy and angrily condemned Christianity for the act of that one man.

Everyone has an opinion on everything. If you do not feel like answering that is your prerogative. Those that want to answer it is theirs to do so.

Oh, and you are an atheist right, you are in this category so something must draw you here too... your opinion perhaps?

Have you noticed how many people direct questions to us? I don't care what others believe, it really doesn't hurt me in any way, but religion and spirituality is a fascinating topic, and I love seeing how people think, even if the thinking is kind of scary at times...

Personally I'm here to protect my own interests by eaves dropping on the Christians in the hope that I might some day foil any attempt to get religion and prayer back into public schools, and have a little fun while I'm at it.

I think your question is a good one! I can't understand why people who don't believe in Christianity would even waste their time answering questions that have anything to do with God or His Word. Just as I see it pointless for a Christian to be jumping on questions that have nothing to do with their faith. It makes me wonder where all the anger comes from...Live and Let Live
