In Pennsylvania a 16 can not get their own policy.... If you can get one on your own it would be about $1600 a year or more.
Getting another car added to your parents policy, even for a 16 year old, should only add around $400 a year.
As you get older, establish a safe driving record the rates will go down but being 16 is a real disadvantage for insurance.
Being married and where you live affects the rates you pay as well....Living in a large city, you will pay a little more...
Go on your parents policy if they will let you but don't let them lie to you and tell you it will cost them thousands of dollars to add your car, it wont, the absoulute most it will cost them is between $400-$600 a year.
Like I said on your own they probably wont insure you or if you find a company that will it will cost you well over $1600 a year. Good luck and stay safe.

Of COURSE it would be cheaper to be added to your parents plan, but they are still going to take your statistics into account. Being an honor student helps- but only because you get over a 3.0, that is the cutoff. The whole world has driver's ed or you wont' even get a permit, they dont' just let people start driving like we are all living on a farm.
The Mazda 3, that is a smaller sports car, a little less safe than a Sedan, and more prone to driving quickly.

I don't know the price ranges, but it would be expensive. But not as expensive if you were a 16 year old boy. You would get a discount for taking driver's ed. and, yes, it would be WAY cheaper to just be added to your parent's plan. The type of car matters too, but I don't "think" the Mazda 3 would bring the price up. Only sport cars. So, don't get into any wrecks and don't get any speeding tickets(all other tickets doesn't matter). At 25, the price will start to drop dramatically.

It's usually cheaper to go through your parents - but not always if they have horrible credit, etc. You may want to try getting a quote online. I am paying less than ½ of what I was before I did.

it would most likely be cheaper to be added to you parents plan, but it wouldn't hurt to call around and get quotes from various insurance companys.

It will be cheaper on your parents policy. They will have to get you covered if you have a license.
