uncovered over a weekend and you fall into it.You break a leg - needlesss to say, you are in pains. You had been in the hole for six hours without help.

Atheist: A passing-by Christian sees you and offers to help. She doesn't have a phone to call for assistance. She also has no physical power to help you out but pray her God to give her strength to pull you out. After saying prayers, she kneels down give you her hand.

First, what would you do? Will you stretch your hand for her help? Assuming you do! She pulls you out and exclaims "Praise the Lord. He's is your saviour, I was just his servant". What would you say?

In a reverse - Christian in the hole. The exact situation prevails (I presume you'll also be praying). Someone you know for certain is Atheist come pass by. Coz she doesn't have the strength to pull you out, she use some of her clothes as a rope, tie around her body and drops it pull you out. Will you use the rope to go out? Why? Will call her your saviour?

Okay, atheist in the hole here.

I take the Christian's hand, let her pull me out and I thank her profusely. I then offer to buy her lunch. (Over lunch we discuss the validity of suing the city for leaving the cover off that manhole!)

It doesn't matter to me how she found the strength to pull me out. If she want to give the praise to god, that's fine. All that matters to me is that Chicky has lived to cluck another day.

I'm an atheist, so.... if she doesn't have the physical power to pull me out she still won't have it after her prayer. But if she can help me, then yes sure I would take her hand, I don't hate Christians, and I don't know why I should refuse help from a Christian. I'm not sure what I'd say if she told me this about the Lord being my saviour. I think I'd say something like "Thanks for helping me, but sorry, I don't believe in God." Or maybe I would not comment this religious statement in that situation. I would thank her for helping me anyway.

Atheist in the hole here.

I'd take her hand without hesitation, and maybe humor her a bit. I'd probably not comment because my leg would be causing me great pain and ask she use her cell phone to call for an ambulance.

In an emergency, the human source of help is irrelevant. What is relevant is how effective it is. Even if she could not get me out, she could certainly go for help.

I would be extremely annoyed if they started to pray rather than help me out of the hole.

A human isn't a 'saviour' just because they save someone. That word is loaded with too many other meanings.

Morality isn't based on religion. If someone believed they helped me because of God I'd be worried - because then they might also believe that homosexuals deserve to get stoned to death.

Its more likely they'd help me because they knew it was good. The basic principle of universality.

"uncovered over a weekend"

"she kneels down"

"She pulls you out and exclaims 'Praise the Lord.'"

she use some of her clothes as a rope, tie around her body

Anybody else getting aroused?

But what's a "reverse Christian in the hole?"

I'm not an atheist, I'm agnostic. I would take help from anyone regardless of any belief system they may have for their personal life. If they feel they need to ask their deity then fine.

I would thank them and offer to buy them a coffee when I get out of the hospital after having my leg set.

Atheist.

Well, I don't think Christians have God cooties or anything. I would have no problem with being helped out of the hole. Afterwords, I would say thank you, and probably get an address to send a gift or something. The Christian is free to say whatever he or she likes. It doesn't change my belief at all.

But, being me, I'm not going to pick a religious fight with someone who just helped me out of a jam.

i reaslize your confusion...but look at it this way if you were in a hole and hurt would it matter what faith this person was? or would you be greatful to have a helping hand? or would you worry about why tihs person is doing this...or would you have other questions? let me say that if you were the atheist in the hole and a christian came by would you refuse they're help... or vice versa...i wouldnt...if this person was a christian and after they help me out and they started confessing to me i think i would listen..if for no other reason, the fact that this person had that right ...i would listen then if this was not my cup of tea.so to speak i would say so...and this person would probally leave you with a prayer that you be saved or your wounds would heal quickly...................now on the other hand...if you were a christian and you were hurt and this atheist helps you out, heres what you would think...you are in this hole praying to god...and asking for him to send you a savior, so to speak...and he sends this atheist your way...just because he or she is an unbeliver would you refuse their help? you would be foolish if you did... you see GOD sends diffrent people in our pathes everyday and its up you to pray and let GOD tell you axactally what he wants you to do with this person...he may have a plan for this person and he wants you and the experiences you have had to tell this person whats what...dont pass up this opportunity...this may be a one shot thing for you...a test so to speak...and this person may only have this one shot at it also...i would hate to think i was the one who helped this person spend eternity in hell...if your the christian then put your faith to work...but if your the atheist, listen my friend to the words of GOD and be free in your soul...if you accept the LORD as your personal savior you will feel the weight of the whole world be lifted from your sholders...COME UNTO ME ALL WHO ARE HEAVY LADEN AND "I" WILL GIVE YOU REST...this is nly one of the many promises GOD offers to us all....good luck and no matter what faith you are or if your not...may the LORD hold you in the palms of his hands...

I'm an atheist, I would thank the woman and probably say something like: It's seems that you are stronger than you thought. After thanking her of course. Probably I would have lost weight, not having eaten for 6 days... that would explain it :-)
