Correct Way To Spell Fiance

2016-11-04 11:57:00 · answer #2 · answered by Erika 4 · 0 0

Both are correct spelling except it denotes a gender.
Fiance for the male gender like Mr and
Fiancee for the female like Miss.

Our society at times prescribed a precise salutation in
etitquitte to address a person by their gender and description.

In this case, an engaged couple while addressing themselves
to their social circle prefers to say fiance for the gentleman
and fiancee for the lady.

Haven't you heard, your female friend introducing his male
friend to you as "This is my fiance, Tom Hanks."?

Fiance with an umlaut. Sometimes it is acceptable to use the same spelling for both genders.

Generally, Fiance or fiancé may refer to:

Fiance (or fiancé), a man who is engaged to be married
Fiancee (or fiancée), a woman who is engaged to be married

One "e" for a guy, 2 for a girl--it's French, traditional French spelling rules. The first (or only in the case of a guy) is supposed to have an accent mark like this over it: /
