Hardly. We could have won Vietnam, and we have every reason to be optimistic about Iraq. If we take an ignorance of 4th generation warfare and mix it with some partisan politics we can lose here at home easily enough, but the arrogant people are the anti-war people, not the supporters. Military power hardly even comes into the equation, it's so one-sided. It's political power that matters, and history seems to show the Democratic party especially does not have the political strength to win a regular war, although they do well with crusades like the world wars.

Vietnam was a conflict that was lost because the Congress and rest of government wouldn't allow the soldiers to do their job for which they were trained. It should have been won. Iraq is a whole different situation. We were not prepared to rebuild a nation that has such deep cultural divides. The dictatorship was the only thing holding the country together because of multiple reasons. The only "arrogance" involved was us thinking we knew what was best for Iraqis.

The reason for our defeat in Vietnam is the politicans fought the war and did not leave it up to the commanders. The goddamn sad shame is that is what is happening again. They hate Bush and they hated him since the "stole" the 2000 election. This is a struggle for freedom and our security. It baffles me that libs just do not get that.

our military might is the greatest this planet has ever seen, the problem with Vietnam and Iraq is the liberal descent tying the hands of the president and not allowing a win. They hate America and all we stand for and their bull gives comfort to the enemy.

We lost in Vietnam for many reasons, most of all because we didn't fight it like a war. It was like a football game in which one team could go anywhere it wanted, and the other couldn't go past the 50-yard-line.
We haven't lost Iraq. The war is not over, so you can't speak in the past tense.

If America (the United States to be specific) were indeed arrogant, then, considering that it is the only superpower in the world, they would NEVER lose a war, a conflict, or anything else for that matter... everyone else would be zapped. Therefore, be glad that somehow or another the only superpower in the world just happens to believe in helping others enjoy "freedom".

The only arrogance in both conflicts has been and continues to be from delusional liberal congress members and the liberal press who down-play the prescience and courage of of our fighting men &women and seem to delight in encouragement of our enemy's.Makes one wonder whose side they really support?

Vietnam and Iraq are conflicts, not really classified as wars. I am sure the soldiers who fought in these would beg to differ. The war in Iraq is on terror (per Dubya), not the country itself.
