Yeah I know - how you feel when you lose sleep. May be it a viral infection. Gargling with warm salty water or mouthwash can reduce the pain and inconvenience. You can find some good home remedies at http://ailments.in/sorethroat.html

First of all, do not stop taking the antibiotic, and be sure to take it strictly on schedule until you doctor tells you not to. Antibiotics may take time to work properly, but you should go back to your doctor anyway, especially if he did not give you some prescription for the pain.
It is possible what you are describing is secondary inflammation caused by all the dead strep bacteria floating around, but i doubt it. Another possibility may be that you have antibiotic-resistant strep. This is a very serious condition, and it is becoming more and more common these days. If this is the case, the doctor may be able to give you some tougher, but more expensive antibiotic.
Antibiotic resistant bacteria are almost certainly caused by the the abusive practice of giving large, indiscriminate doses of antibiotics to livestock animals. This creates an ideal breeding ground for antibiotic resistance, which then makes it's way to the human population. Even newer, more powerful antibiotics may be sold generically in bulk, and marketed as "growth formula", or some-such.
But don't go in to the doctor's office convinced that you already know what's wrong with you. Just make sure you get all the attention you need, and that you follow your doctor's advice.

a prescribed antibiotic that has not given any relief in the last 24 hours....check this with your doc. Strep is worse than people give it credit for.
If not treated, you can die from strep. It can and will cause permanent damage to your vital organs, including your heart.
The above is treatment to rid the disease. What about pain meds?
Im curious why you are taking all of the above if you have been given a prescription for strep which usually includes a pain med for relief.
If you did not get a pain relief med, ask the doc for one immediately.

First, get the antibiotic in you and that should take an afternoon or 2 earlier it kicks in and you initiate feeling greater desirable. i could take ibuprofen (Motrin or Advil) for the discomfort and drink various fluids warm or chilly. I constantly enjoyed warm greater desirable. Cloroseptic makes a sprig that kills the discomfort on your throat or attempt garling with salt water. basically relax and in a pair days you would be returned to new. Take Care.
