My friend spanked her daughter with a spoon last night Ido not have to resort to that what is a good way to handle a child who is bad?

You spank that lil but with a belt. All this child abuse for punishing Ur kids is hog wash. I'm sick of hearing I don't want to hurt their feelings, I want to be there friend. U have got to be a parent, teach them manors and right form wrong. If you don't do it now you will REGRET it in the future.

It is up to each parent. My son has been popped several times with a wooden spoon. I was spanked with a leather belt when i was a kid and with a wooden paddle my dad made from an oak tree he cut down..If you dont want to have to spank your child that is up to you try other means like time out..with my son he is very hard headed and time out means nothing to him he will play with carpet fuzz to entertain himself so sometimes i have to resort to popping his behind. Now that he is 6 he knows how far i will go b4 I actually pop him.

if being spanked with a wooden spoon is the worst that happens to that kid he can consider himself lucky. It depends on the parents and on the kid. I am 16 and my parents used to punish me a lot worse then that for stupid stuff too. If you want your kid to respect u then when you are punishing them do it in a manner that will not lead them to hating you. If you want to be like my parents and beat the sh.it out of your kid for getting B's in school then when they move out don't expect any christmas cards. There is no one answer. It depends on how you want your kids ot veiw you in the future and what kind of relationship u wanna have.

Well your friend might of have been taken care of that way, so she thinks it's OK to deal with a situation that way but,the best way to deal with a child is to talk to her/him and tell him/her who's the boss. Then later if they get all rebeled up, you might have to spank the, but not scar them for life or not you might end up in jail.

first of all it's no such thing as a "bad child" i myself do not agree with corporal punishment but ever parent has a different method in the way they discipline their children
