It doesn't happen immediately. Try to relax to give the stiff muscle a break. Apply a heating pad to the area for 15 minutes and then have someone gently massage the area.

Try this method: 1. Sit up straight in a straight back chair. Face forward and pick an object in front of you at eye level. 2. Turn your head as far as you can to the right and hold it there for the count of 25. 3. turn your head back to the center to the eye level spot and count to 25. 4. Bring you chin down towards your chest and count to 25. 5. Turn you head to the left and repeat step 2. Do this process for 5 times on each side. 6. Take your left hand and hold your head over to the left to the count of 25. 7. Repeat this step to the right side. Go slow to be effective. When you finish, if you have done the steps correctly, then your pain should be gone.

My friend suffered from this. She underwent six sessions of one-hour therapy. Also, sh was told by the doctor to wear a neck brace for several days. One other solution was to move her computer to her own table top, because one cause of her stiff neck was the fact that her computer was put on a higher table and she has to look up while working on her computer.

With your hands by your sides, slowly move your shoulder up and down, up and down, up and down. Do this for about 5 minutes. Dont attempt to crack ure neck. You may make it worse.
This is caused from the way you sleep ya know. You may need to buy a firmer pillow. One that supports your neck properly as you sleep.

Get into a hot shower, aim the spray where it hurts, slowly turn your head from one side to the other, then bend it forward, back and down to one shoulder then the other. Then roll your shoulders forward a few times and back a few times. Do several sets.
