hi a friend of mine has just noticed that hes got a black spot (like a birth mark) in his mouth. its on his inside cheek not on the gums. hes only just noticed and he reckons it wasnt there before. its not flat he said its like a little lump. any ideas or good advice??? been checking the web but no answers.

It's most likely a "blood blister" and will go away on it's own. He probably bit down on the inside of his cheek and may not have even noticed doing it. It likely just a small pocket of blood that has turned dark. It should go away in a few days. If it doesn't, he should see his dentist just to make sure it's not something else. Good luck to your friend and tell him he should be fine.

Whoa! Sh!t! Get that seen to asap! That's definitely not right. Don't want to alarm you but I saw something similar on This Morning where a guy lost part of his tongue through something similar, he left it so long before he got it checked out that it had spread to his tongue from his cheek. Good luck.

Most likely, he bit the inside of his mouth while he was asleep (if he doesn't remember doing that during the day).
I wouldn't worry about it. If he gets worried or if it gets uncomfortable, he might want to see his doctor just in case.

Has he bit the side of his cheek ? it could possibly be a blood blister, if in doubt tell him to see his doctor

I would say he should get it looked at by a dentist very soon. Its probably nothing to worry about but he needs to know for sure;
