Milkshakes can feel good to the throat when it is sore. Also, you can heat a teaspoon or two of honey in the microwave for 10 to 20 seconds. Add a squeeze of lemon (if you have it) when it comes out of the microwave. Make sure it's not so hot it will burn you. Then drink it. It will coat your throat and make it feel better. Also gargling with salt water helps quite a bit.

No restriction as to the food intake. Anything you find palatable although i suggest you lessen oil food. Fluids are of a great help.
Gargling with warm salty water or mouthwash can reduce the pain and inconvenience. You can find some good home remedies at http://ailments.in/sorethroat.html

"Citrus Cooler" flavored Gatorade, with ice. Trust me. I had chronic tonsilitis as a child, and it was the only thing that did not hurt my throat going down. Even water burned like h***. (I did the stars, by the way--not the editor.) As for food, I would go with soft foods like mashed potatoes and soup, and as many vegetables as you can eat. Get better:).
