LP - Long Play (in reference to a vinyl record). Sequentally replaced by 8 Track Tapes, Cassettes, CD's, wav files, and now MP3's!

There are a lot of words we don't use. Take your favorite word, cut it in half and add izzle to the end. Now you know a word that we don't use anymore, because it has an ebonics equivalent.

Cinema is still used, that's why we still have cinematographers. Some less likely to be heard:

wireless = radio
there are a lot of words that still exist but we have shortened them and the shortened versions have became norm...
for example
bicycle - bike
vacum cleaner - hoover or vacum
linoleum - lino
