My mom visited me from africa and she's been living with me since Dec, 2005. Since I supported her all through the year and she was dependent on me, can I claim her as a dependent when filing my tax? The problem is she doesn't have a SSN and the IRS requires this to claim someone. Is there any other way I can do this?

No, you cannot claim anyone as a dependent who does not have a SSN. If she is eligible for one, she should apply for it quickly at the nearest Social Security office.
If she is not eligible for a SSN, she can apply for an Individual Taxpayer Identification Number (ITIN) that you can then use on your tax return.
