I have a 2003 Ford Explorer Sport Trac factory wired with a 4 prong wiring system. I purched a trailer with electric brakes which uses a 7 prong system. Is there a way to convert the 4 prong to a 7 prong system?

Absolutely it can.... all you need is to buy an adapter for about $30 that hooks into your 4-pin and has a 7-pin at the opposite end. This can be purchased at any trailer place, U-Haul, or even some dealers carry them.

The 7 prong includes braking functions. You can adapt the 4 to make it light the lights, but not work the brakes.

there is an adapter that can be bought at a trailer place or at an auto parts store. Converts 4 to 7 and no rewiring is necessary if the trailer is properly wired.

I searched my Catolog for a PArt number because i know that they make them. It said that it should have came with the truck, and now if only serviced with the big wireharness. You best bet is going aftermarket. They're out there.
