credit companies use experian and equifax the two main companies that hold all your details on record and show exactly how many cards you have what credit you have applied for in the past what you have paid for each month and if you have missed any payments which effects you credit rating. you can write to thses companies and pay a tenner or something to get a copy of your credit rating to see what imfo they actually hold on you and how your credit rating is fairing up. check the internet for there addresses.

all credit companies do it these days, also when renting a place, going for a loan, etc will get a cred search done on you.

it law now and this has to be done. you can check your cred history on the internet but dont know how and dont know how much
