What is "always in excreta, only the depth varies" in Latin?

I am in IT and someone has suggested that this should be my motto. It might look better in Latin.

Semper in merda, solum profundum variat.

You can use excremento instead of merda, and altitudo instead of profundum, and there are other possiblilites for the verb, but the meaning is essentially the same.


I chose merda because in modern day Spanish mierda has that meaning - I have no idea as to its classical usage. The dictionary I used defines all three words as manure, dung, or excrement. Stercus is a 3rd declension noun, so it would be in stercore.

"in sterco" means just the same as "in merda", but my dictionary indicates that it is rather coarser, so you may prefer it. Some people might recognise it from its use in the Terry Pratchett books.

Haha, what a funny joke!
Of course, most of this ”motto” is in English. In excreta is like the English ”excrement”

You might just as well say: ”Semper in shite, sed varietas in altitudine”

Print it on your T-shirt and you can literally see the excretae hit the fan
