It really all depends. They way to stop from aquiring AIDS is to take a cocktail of drugs called AZT. They are a protease inhibitor drug that prevents the HIV virus from splitting its RNA and coping itself. This is only a way to prevent the HIV from leading to AIDS.
AIDS, however, can be treated with drugs that supress the HIV virus. However, this is a problem because the drugs then lead to mutant strains of HIV virus form. Then your doctor could put you on another HIV supressant drug, and this cycle will continue till there are no more drugs. If you take care of yourself, and take all of the drugs, you could live for about 10 years. This is only once the virus goes active. HIV can lay dormant in the body for up to 10 years. If the virus does activate and no treatment is sought, you could die in 2 years.
The risk of getting what is known as SuperAIDS is very real. It is caused by a strain of the virus that is so aggressive because it has mutated past the point of using drugs to supress it. Once this form is caught, you could die in 6 months to a 1 year.

Your question is unlcear mate. You cannot die from AIDS (Aqquired Immune Deficiency Syndrome) or HIV. AIDS is a progession of HIV and it lowers your immune system, meaning you are more likely to get pneumonia or AIDS related cancer...etc.
In Australia, only an average of 2 people per year are dying of an AIDS related death due to the amazing increase of Retroviral drugs which target the diseases progession. With good health, people are living healthy long lives with HIV/AIDS.

AIDS in fact is A.I.D.S meaning "acquired immuno deficiency syndrome". Longevity can not to be assessed because no body dies from aids but it simply make your immune system deficient. If aids infected person gets any other infection or decease it can not be treated or the way of treatment this world knows can't cure him and addition of deceases kill him.
