The pain is part of the experience. If it wasn't that bad, everyone would be walking around with them. It's a good idea to talk to the artist while he (or she ) is working, to keep your mind off the pain.

What happened to my avatar???

I am getting nine hours of work done in one sitting in March. Getting a tattoo doesn't hurt too much.......its more an annoying feeling than it is painful. It also depends on your artist. A good artist knows just how hard to push....and when to leave an area and work somewhere else for a while. If you are real lucky you are getting a piece of ART put on your skin...... Accept the pain as part of the process. I think that you're going to find the whole process addictive.

See the problem is, is that people are mis-informed about the skin. There are many different skin types and everybody is different when it comes to pain. Nevermind a tattoo, but sometimes you cant even give a facial treatment to somebody with sensitive skin without it burning them. So, just because your pain receptors may be more sensitive then others does not meen you don't deserve ink. My suggestion is to start small and test it out, and if you need, there are many numbing creams out there for you extra sensitive people....... Also, some people are more sensitive in some spots than others...The ones that say it doesn't hurt haven't obviously tattooed their sensitive spots yet....

don't get one then. Honestly...it doesn't hurt as bad as you think. I just got one last night...had it built up in my head to be this agonizing, run out the door screaming hurt - but it really wasn't that bad. There are some tattoo artists that will not tattoo you if they know that you used some sort of anesthetic. Also...just so that you know. They do have a prescription one (EMLA cream) but it only numbs for about 20-30 minutes and I have heard that your body kind of goes into shock if it wears down in the middle of the tattoo. My cousin is an anesthesiologist....

There is nothing to dull the pain while your getting one, for me I just focus on the killer music usually playing where I get my tats, It is not recommended you take anything, drinking and any pills you take thin your blood and you bleed more. After you get one pop an advil or have a shot of tequila....the pain is not that bad in fact it hurts so good !!! You get used to the minimal pain there is, a good artist knows how deep to go so there is hardly any pain, just a little annoyance.....Good Luck and happy Tattooing :)

If the person that is doing your tattoo is very talkative then that works great to take ur mind off of the constant irritation. I dont think tattoos hurt( I have 3) but the constanty of the needle gets aggravating. Eventualy, you get use to it,or the part that is being tattooed goes numb

Theres this product called Emla cream. Its expensive but if you really cant handle pain, its well worth it. Its topical so you dont have to inject it or anything, you just apply some to the area you're going to get tattooed (dont rub it in) then wrap the area in plastic wrap (or something it cant absorb into) 30-40 minutes before you're going to get tattooed. It absorbs into your skin and totally numbs it for about 2 hours. I bought some when I got my foot tattooed, it worked wonders. By the time it was starting to wear off,he was almost finished anyway. Go to

http://www.bmezine.com --go to the store section, they sell it there. Like I said , its expensive, but it actually works.

I guess if it were available you could get a local anesthetic. they always recommend that you don't drink alcohol when getting a tattoo. this has something to do with circulation and bleeding. Or you could probably even take an oral painkiller beforehand. At any rate tattoos are painful, they are injecting ink under your skin. So choose one well, and do your best to minimize the pain.

all of it really is determined by your discomfort tollerance. Neither one among my tats harm in any appreciate, wisely the first one this is on the decrease edge of my again tickled (i'm an exceedingly ticklish personality by nature and that is one among my warm spots lol). The second did not harm both....basically felt somewhat vibration. Taking your boyfriend will help out a lot. He can talk to you and distract you. basically do no longer forget to respire. the established you'd be ready to make you tremendous worried...yet you'd be ready to be okay. basically search for suggestion from such as your guy and carry his hand do you should might want to. staggering fulfillment! ;)

Do you have any tattoos?! They rarely hurt enough to need to "dull" the pain.
