Generally it seems good.
As already stated the biggest problem will be compatibility with old drivers and old software.
Most will work.
I have a nostromo speedpad n50 game controller that will not work so I have gone back to using xp.
All the big manufacturers seem to have vista drivers sorted out as you would expect.
Apart from the way it looks etc. there will be little benefit in upgrading from xp in my humble opinion so I would not rush into it and waste money.

First of all drivers for vista aren't perfect yet particularly graphics and sound drivers, also antivirus software isn't generally ready yet. This will change over time as companies release updaes.
As it is new there may be bugs that need to be ironed out if you are worried about this it may be worth waiting a bit before upgrading, wait a month or two and during this time look through forums to see what things people seem to be having problems with.
Also check that your PC is compatible, from what I have read although it runs on less people are suggesting 1gb of memory to make it run properly. Any programs you run all the time should also be checked to make sure there are no problems with vista if the main website has no specific information do a search for the program + vista.

I have already upgraded to Vista (Ultimate) in December, and I actually like it. I work for a "Large" computer company, and I get all Microsoft's software for free.
I would definately make sure your system can handle it because I built my own system to run Vista and it takes a lot of "power" to do so. I have Vista Ultimate and Office 2007 Pro, and it looks and runs really nice, and contrary to what a previous poster said, Vista is not that buggy. It has ran quite smooth for me, but then again I know what I am doing.

Sorry but not upgrading to Vista or Office 2007, why should we pay more for the same as our American cousins, if we all say no to the new products from the worlds richest company, then perhaps they may just drop the cost of product to same price as other countries and not overcharge the very gullible Brits

Yes just like any other OS that first comes out, especially Windows, they are buggy as hell. I wouldn't depend on Vista with your valuable information or anything like that.
