Since tabac is WAY to expensive in the UK im thinking about importing some cigars from Spain. The price difference is 50% so worth the trouble. Anybody experienced any problems doing that or knows if I have to pay something once they get here?

You will be liable for Excise duty, I think.

You have to pay the duty if the cigars arrive without you. So you save nothing. On the other hand, if you travel to Spain and bring the stuff back with you, then you can bring enough for personal use, no more. If you plan to sell them on, that is illegal.

"If you are bringing in alcohol or tobacco goods and we have reason to suspect they may be for a commercial purpose, a Customs officer may ask you questions and make checks. You are particularly likely to be asked questions if you have more than:

3200 cigarettes, 200 cigars, 400 cigarillos, 3kg tobacco, 110 litres of beer, 90 litres of wine, 10 litres of spirits, 20 litres of fortified wine (such as port or sherry)."

All other answers are correct. If they arrive without you - through post for example - you will pay a vast amount of Duty. If you bring in a large quantity in a car and it is decided that they are not for personal use then the car may also be seized!

Cigarettes are not too expensive. The idea is to stop you smoking!!
