yes.. boxers are great to have with a lab... i know this as i have 2 boxers and a yellow lab. she grew up with our elder boxer and was a young dog when our youngest boxer was born...those 2 are like sisters (i swear the lab thinks shes a boxer at times) as for the other question as what boxers are like... well they are loving and loyal, energetic, each have their own personalities.. funny.. the list goes on... we also have cats and kids and they are fine with them.. so personally i would choose a boxer... good luck

They are fab dogs we have two a girl and a boy and they have had pups. They are full of energy but a good walk/run a day keeps their energy levels at bay. They are the most loyal dogs they are very loyal to their owners and the owners families they are also loyal to any other dogs they have been brought up with. They don't like being left for long periods of time as they would much rather be inside with you either having a cuddle or playing with you or your lab. They get very excitable but with a quick stroke from you or a stranger they will calm down. They are very sociable and love being around people especially children. They can as i said before get a bit excited so just keep a close eye on them around strangers. They also make excellent guard dogs as they will do anything for you. If you do a search on the Internet for Boxer dogs you will find that most people have the same opinion as me.

My grandmother has a boxer that looks after her. She is GREAT! She used to have a lab too, but she died of old age. The lab, Lucy, and the boxer, Ava, were fantastic! They loved each other. Ava was really sad when she finally figured out Lucy was gone. She would look all over the house, thinking Lucy was somewhere in the house. That just proves that labs on boxers will be friends for life. P.S.- if you have a male lab, I recommend to get female because when we got a new male family pet, my older male was being mean to it. If you have a female, it really doesn't matter if you get a male or female boxer because usually females who meet a new dog in the household don't hold much of a grudge.

Boxers are exuberant, playful, goofy (known as the comedians of the canine world), & love kids because they have that same game-loving wild energy & curiosity about life. They need a lot of exercise, and firm rules & obedience training to keep them in line, or chaos will reign in your house! They can go from wild play to snuggling, snoring on your lap & back in 0 to 60 seconds. Great fun dogs! They do mellow out some around 3 years old, but pretty much have a more playful puppy attitude their entire lives.
I lived with my sister & her Labrador for a couple years & they got along great - the Lab even learned how to play some fun new games with my Boxer.
Resources to learn more: I really enjoyed the 'Boxers For Dummies' book.

I've had two boxers...they are actually not my favorite breed but my husband loves them. They have pros and cons and it's good to know both. Thet are great dogs as far as loyalty and safety. They won't let anyone near you unless you tell them to. They are very active and sometimes they don't know their own size. I don't think that they are too great of a choice with little kids because I think they are so loving that they don't understand not to jump on little ones...my boy was knocked over before (not on purpose though, the dog was trying to be affectionate or was really excited to see him).
When you walk in the door from being gone for a while, be prepared because they will let you know how excited they are to see you!

They are good dogs, dedicated, strong, protective, especially with children. Of course, it all depends on the training too. I don't know if 2 males would get along (lab and boxer), but opposite sexes would be OK.

we have one boxer were getting another boxer puppy soon...she does NOT slobber never has!
Boxers arent known for hip problems!
they ARE known for heart problems..just buy from heart tested parents scores 1-3 are acceptable 0-is a perfect score.
they ARE strong~! but we have 2 small children..shes as soft as mud with them (never leave any dog alone with a child!)
they do snore! lol!!
my experience of boxers are that theyre increadably agile trustworthy inteligent and will defend and love you to its last days.

Boxers are the class clown no matter where they are. Energetic, mischeivious and adoring counterparts to all members of the family. And your lab and boxer will be the best of friends - if introduced properly. You can not have a favorite.
NEVER buy one from a pet store. NEVER!

Boxers are very friendly, energetic, playful but you must be careful because they do suffer from heart defects which people know little about, mine died from a heart attack a year ago, people also say that once you get a boxer you will always get another one. They are really a mans best friend.

boxers are great dogs a bit daft at times but in temperament very much akin to labs, ive had both and they are both my favorite breeds although you do have to be a little stronger with a boxer they need to know who the boss is and be reminded often...............
