Yes it is.
Being slim aka Ectomorph means you probably have a very fast metabolism and therefore being slim comes naturally.
For most slim/ectomorphic people (used to be me...very lean and skinny kid) it is imparative to utilize weight training to maintain lean muscle.
Of course, it is in your best interest to ensure that you have a battle plan suited specifically for you.
Not sure where you live but a complete Computerized fitness evaluation will help you and a qualified fitness professional determine where your fitnes level is currently.
A specific nutritional regime along with specific types of training (not to mention duration and frequency for you as a slim person) could then be created.
If your goal is to become stronger, healthier and put on some much needed lean muscle...then yes weight training is appropriate for you.

I think it's appropriate for every type of individuals out there who want to improve their physical appearances and gain some self-pride and confidence. I did hear that the improvements will be apparent at a slower rate to those who have slim type of body. However, I know quite a few people who were skinny couple years ago, and now they have types of body that professional athletes have. Just don't give up, work hard, and you'll achieve what you want, no matter what type of body you have.

Of course it is! We have muscles too! If your muscles are weak your joints are unsupported and you could develop joint problems. Toned muscles look much nicer than weak atrophied ones. Skinny people can be flabby too.
