Temple to me conjures the meaning of a Jewish or Hindu place of worship.

with Christians:
yes, Church was supposed to mean a group of Christians, not the brick and mortar it is today.

I'm a Christian - studied in the manuscripts; I haven't walked into a church except for a funeral service, in over 30 years.
The reason is that truth is not taught in most of them. That being the case, God would bless me just as much if I go to a good ballgame.
The example of Christ in Scripture is that when he went to the Temple, the Word of God was taught there. Not some worship service that just repeats lines over and over again. And not some church that teaches their own church rules and traditions,
but the actual Word. This is why I stay out of them.
In Revelation chapter one, you will read of Christ telling John to write down a message and send the messages to seven churches. Out of the 7 churches, there are only two of them that He approved of. And, both of those churches taught the exact same thing. I would think that If a Christian wants to be a part of a church that Christ approves of, that they would take those verses very, very seriously. And, if their church does not line up with what these two taught, they are better off not going.
You'll find them at 2:8 and 3:9 of Revelation. Tell me if you know of a church who teaches it - I have found only one in over 30 years, and they are so far away, that I can't attend.

why do people go to temple?there are so many temples in this world and have you ever wondered why one goes to a temple.i will tell you my point of view on this.people go to a temple becasue of its purity.its clean of all sins atleast i hope it is.there is a presence there thats not found elsewhere.a peace of mind that is not out there.i don't find that peace mind exists any longer in a temple- the reason temples around the world look more like a picnic spot to me than a godly place.so if you think, not going to a temple makes you a non religeous, that by itself shows that you have fear for the Almighty and thats proof enough to make you a religious person.

Religion is a state of mind. It is the belief that is important not where and if you worship.

I am a pagan but I do not fault others for their beliefs. One should find it more important to live by the principles of their religion (which are all basically the same) rather than the rules. Worship confined to certain places is more of a social event rather than a spiritual one.

Make your own decisions; worship where you will.

In acts the second chapter and the last verse it tells us that Jesus Christ [the Second member of The Godhead] added daily TO THE CHURCH those as such as should be saved, so IF your planning on being saved the thing is to find THIS CHURCH God is here speaking of, its the one that Keeps the commandments of God and has the testamony of Jesus Christ that satan attacks and is attacking even now described in Rev. 12:17 hay why not visit a Seventh Day Adventist chruch in your area, free bible lessons www.itiswritten.com bible questions www.bibleinfo.com God bless talk to me also wgr88@yahoo.com

Absolutely! Saving faith comes through accepting Scriptures, and the Creator YHVH and His Savior (His name is YHVH is my Savior--YAHOSHUA). Churchianity, and all those temples, are worshiping pagan idols. They have no connection to the True Creator who can save you.

Of course, religion can only be judged by our own beliefs.
