A thought-provoking question, indeed! Well, first of all, how can one compare the two? The two are, at one point, totally different disciplines; however, they serve to be the two sides of the 'same' coin too. Apart from the two being highly subjective, the objective approach says that one cannot live without the other, i.e., if love cannot be without friendship, neither can friendship be without love. Again, it depends on how one defines both- love and friendship.
Eg: If your life-partner is your love, he may or may not be your friend. But not every friend can be your love. Right?
So, thats what love is about- friendship.

I cannot imagine having true love without true friendship. Or a true friendship without love. But if you are talking about romantic love...I think once all the lusty feelings slow down a bit, which is normal, I think for the relationship to be truly intimate there must be affection, caring, respect and true "liking" of one another. A friendship to start. In fact I think if "friendship" was the basis of all relationships that become romantic we would have a much lower divorce rate.

Well...we can call FRIENDSHIP as the safe side and LOVE as the risky side. But i should say that friendship is better. WHy?

Friendship can lead to love but love hardly leads back to the same friendship.

Well, if both of you feels that you have found the right one, then this time love woUld be better...

I would say friendship as I believe to have a true love one must be friends the that other person. The difference between lust and love is the genuine feelings for your mate, like caring, honesty, compassion and respect.
