Try in the middle of the upper back, between the shoulder blades.
Part the hair well, down to the skin, apply, then rub it in a little, close back the hair part. If she reaches that with her paw I want a photo. Even though my dogs will lay on their backs and wiggle to itch the spot. It still works fine.

Flea medication should be applied between the cats shoulder blades, that can't reach this spot to lick it off.

We always use Frontline and always get it from our Vet.

Please don't buy OTC flea medication for your cat.
It's known to be toxic to some cats and in some cases has resulted in death.

Never even heard of that product - which means it's probably some horrible, dangerous crap you bought at WalMart. Why do you need to "wash" your cat? Cats are "self cleaning" and really don't need baths unless they're show cats or get into something really filthy. If they still have fleas it's because you used garbage on them. Do give them a bath to get these dangerous chemicals off their fur and pray that it doesn't end up killing them. Then wait a couple of weeks and put on Advantage, Frontline or Revolution - SAFE, effective products that also WORK.

The standard GOOD grades of flea treatments such as Frontline, Frontline Plus, Advantage and a few others tell you (even provide pictures) to apply the liquid at the back of the cats neck where (no matter what) the cat cannot get to this spot. PLEASE do NOT use some off-the-wall cheap stuff you picked up at Wal-Mart or wherever as it could make your cat very sick or even kill it.

The best place to apply the medication is to the bottom of the neck, at the shoulder blades. By applying it there, your kitty will not be able to reach it to wash it off. Good luck!

Between her shoulder blades will work. You can also buy flea medication in tablet form which might be easier for you if you can get her to swallow it. I would not bother with flea collars. I have never found them very successful on their own.
