When you tell someone you pray (i.e. "I pray my kids don't catch that flu going around.") Do you really pray or are you really saying "I hope."

If you do pray, who do you pray to?

I pray. I pray to God , to Jesus my Savior and to the Holy Spirit that moves me. You pray anytime anywhere, for any reason or even if you don't have a reason. I is a wonderful feeling.

When I pray for things like that, I put my trust in the Lord NO MATTER WHAT. Even if the Lord doesn't make that prayer true, everything really does happen for a reason. It's God's whole plan for us. If I pray that my mom never catches illness and dies, but God does the opposite and "Lord Forbid" she does catch illness and die, then I would actually thank him for that because He is Good AT ALL TIMES, there is nothing cruel and evil about Him, even though it may seem he did the wrong thing, he obviously knows what He is doing since he created EVERYTHING. There are just some things that us humans just cannot understand about God, for example, innocent people dying, good people suffering..but thats when Faith becomes more important.

Prayer is not just a hope. Sure whenever I pray I hope that God answers my prayer the way I want him to, but ultimately I want what God wants for me.God does answer every prayer. I want to live in his will for my life and not that of my own. God knows what's best for me as I know what is best for my kids who ask me for things as well.

I pray to God through his Son Jesus Christ. God is the only one that on can pray to and Jesus is the only means by which God will hear our prayers. Jesus is the way the truth and the life and no man can get to the father but through him. Prayer is speaking to God through a relationship with his Son Jesus.

Jesus is at the right hand of God interceding for the saints...

Catholic here:

Most of these are simple off hand statements, but they do no harm. They are based in our faith as we do rely on God's help and protection for everything in life.

I do pray, and I pray to Jesus.

Ironically, that use of the word "pray" doesn't have anything to do with god. It's a Middle English term (ie: Shakespeare - pray thee good brother, how fairesth my beloved Romeo [badly paraphrased - ha!]) Therefore, it is similar to "tell" or in modern context, it is commonly used in place of "ask". So, the question remains as to "asking" whom?

The bible says unforeseen things will occur , in other words God has already warned persons that they can die, get sick , and so on. When a person prays you pray in such a way Jesus said person ought to pray,
Our father who is in heaven, acknowledge God and where he is.
Hollowed be thy name, Jehovah/YHWH is Gods name
Let thy Kingdom come--- you are praying for Gods goverment//as Jesus said not to be part of this world..
Let your will be done on earth as it is in heaven, again you pray for Gods arrangement both heavenly and his visible arrangements.
Well you got the point i hope.

when you pray you are focasing your mind on something you want or that you dont want to happen or what ever that you pray for. to pray is to meditait. when you pray it is not only heard by your god that you beleive in. it is allso heard by your self. the bible says that( the lord helps those that help there selves. ) so after you pray you should find your self doing things to anser your prare like for exsample if you dont want your kids to get sick after you pray it might make you realise that, the kids need to eat right, get enough sleep, take vitimins, wash there hands, after you pray it might make you realise you need to by some books and start reading up on how to raise healthy kids and why so many kids are geting sick today. but you must continue to pray every day works the best. it keeps your mind focased. praying can take you many places but in my experence its a slow trip, but its better than staying in one place. to hope for some thing is difernt than praying. when you pray.your god gives you the power to do what needs to be done, to get the results you want. it is up to you to carry out the task. hope is depending on some one else to save you, like i hope they find a cure for cancer, but if you pray enough maybe you can find that cure. i pray to all that is good and holy, i beleive you must draw your powers from all releigons, i was told by a holy man one time that in the end of time ,you shall learn, that nobody is right that you are all wrong.
