Only God knows when He will intervene to bring an end to the world's evil and establish Christ's rule—but you can be certain it will happen. As Jesus ascended into heaven after His resurrection the angels promised, "This same Jesus, who has been taken from you into heaven, will come back" (Acts 1:11).
Although God hasn't given us an exact timetable, the Bible does tell us to be prepared for Christ's coming. When He comes again, most people will be caught off guard, thinking that this world is going to continue the same way it always has. This is why Jesus said to His disciples, "So you also must be ready, because the Son of Man will come at an hour when you do not expect him" (Matthew 24:44).
At the same time, the Bible does tell us that certain things must happen before Christ returns—signs that will point to His coming. For example, Jesus said that "this gospel of the kingdom will be preached in the whole world ... and then the end will come" (Matthew 24:14). This is happening today more than ever, through the use of the mass media and the Internet, as well as the efforts of missionaries and evangelists throughout the world. You can also read more about what Jesus said would happen prior to His coming again in Matthew 24, Mark 13, and Luke 21.
The most important question, however, is this: Are we ready to meet Christ—either when He returns or when we face death? We can be, by turning to Him in repentance and faith, and committing our lives to Him. Has this happened in your life?

I think the key sign is that the Bible is pretty well distributed around the world in many different languages and tongues. This has taken most of the power away from the "preachers". People can interpret the bible the way they want, and how it pertains to thier personal life. In the past there was only a few interpretations, but now there is a great babel of conflicting thought. We are on the verge of the great tribulation.

We will witness changes in the sun. First all of the hydrogen will be converted into helium by fusion (this is happening now) When all the hydrogen is converted, the helium will begin to be converted into carbon. The sun will run out of fuel eventually. It will begin to cool and become a red giant. It will expand and engulf mercury, venus earth and possibly mars. When this occurs the world will end. But don't worry, we still have about 5 billion years

All the religous zealotry aside, that IS NOT the end of the world. The world will come to an end only if something on a cosmic scale occurs to it (which it will). The proper question to ask is, "When will humans become extinct?"
Then again, if you'd stop worrying about what you cannot control, you may live a more happy and fruitful life

whether you want to believe it or live in dilusion the earth has been around for at least 4.5 billion years. Us humans have walked the earth for quite some time, hundreds of thousands of years. I see no reason to believe the end is coming anytime soon & we need to realize this soon before we are responsible for our own end. Can you not aleast stop for a minute & think hey what about the possible thousands of generations that could live beyond us hmmm maybe I should stop being such a wasteful inconsiderate *** hole

I wouldn't take religions word for anything. My personal opinion the world is not coming to an end and if a persons sentiments are based solely on scriptures then they are not applying what they are seeing in the right way, since it is allegorical for esoteric truths and is the key of knowledge to apply them inward...

The continuing escalation of violence worldwide, the rise to power of extremists, the ongoing rape of the environment, the degradation of social values, the rampant outbreaks of disease including strains that continuously mutate, burgeoning overpopulation, overhunting/overfishing, not to mention the distressing lack of common sense a great majority of governments display. I figure that if we don't destroy ourselves and the planet in this century, humans will eventually resolve many of the problems facing us today.
