One of my mate took some credit from one bank and left this country for long time.now he is again in this country and opened a new account with his latest address which is not been informed to his old banker. However, debt collector have got his new address and have sent notice to pay debt, interest and certain amount of charge.If he fail to pay that debt of £480, will it turn to criminal case against him, will it hamper his job or visa?

As a former collection guy, there are multiple ways to "skip trace" an individual. When he opened up a new bank acct they may have run his credit. When they did this all inquiries are listed on your credit report, which include all your current information. That's how they were able to acquire the new info. A bad debt will not be a criminal offense. however, if not resolved can and will become a judgment. Pay the debt, 480 is cheap compared to jacked up credit. Good luck

Not sure of the laws governing this where you are at. I know that you can not go to jail here for that. Debtors have method for what is referd as "skip tracing" So when your mate moved back and applied for credit the were able to catch him that way
