When you go to your local station to tell the police where the drug dealers live and they tell you to piss off, what can you do about that?

I guess you can call a local newspapaer or TV station and tell them what happened. See what they say about it.

Because drugs are an everyday part of life the UNIFORMED POLICE don't have much intrest in investigating unless you can provide names, and actual amounts. As far as being told to **** off, I myself, would go back to the police dept. at the same time as before and get the officers name and badge # and then go to Internal Affairs Dept. and lodge a complaint and then contact the D.E.A. and give them your info along with a brief account of what transpired at the police station. And just for good measure, I would contact the local television station and ask them if they might be interested in a good public relations story?. It seems that in these times when a citizen wants to do the right thing, the police want the person reporting the criminal activity to have a complete report ready so all they have to do is arrest them. I ran into that problem a few years back. You just can't find good help these days!! good luck

I was just faced with this last week. I highly doubt an officer would say piss off, but if they did then id report it.
Now if they acted like they blew it off and didnt care, that may not be so.

In my town we have a residence that is selling drugs, we have great reason to belive theres a lab inside. But there is nothing we can do. We cant just run up and bust the doors down. (this is where people watch too much tv, especially COPS). But if you report that there selling drugs out of a house and we act like we dont care, that doesnt mean we dont. There could possibly be many things going on involving that house, for example: a current undercover investigation, maybe we r in the process after enough solid evidence of obtaining a search warrant.

There can be many factors that play in to this. As an Officer, we do care and we all want the drugs off the streets, but most of the times we cant do anything. When i know something is going on and i cant do anything, i will personally drive by the residence in my squad car multiple times. i even parked my car a couple houses down to do paperwork... now tell me that deosnt put a scare on them.

I think there's MUCH, MUCH MORE to this story than you're telling. I doubt VERY seriously if there's a police agency in the nation - if you're talking about the US, of course - that would tell someone to "piss off" when reporting drug dealers.

On the other hand, if you went into the police station making a bunch of wild, outlandish claims with no evidence of any kind to back you up, I can see where the police would tell you that there isn't anything they can do without solid evidence - the rules they don't make but have to play by, by the way - but I SERIOUSLY doubt they would just say, "Piss off" and let it go at that.

So how about the rest of the story, skippy?

Take the ID number of the cop and report the matter to the next largest precinct and also send a letter outlining the details and the cops ID number to your MP

I think there are probably 2 ways to solve it. The first way is to forget about it because it is their responsibilities, if they do not fulfill their responsibility, it is their problems. Seconrd, if you are really unhappy with their attitude and their way to handle the matter, you could request to speak to their supervisor; alternatively, you can also remember their name and number, call the police complaint department hotline and to complain their work.
