According to Powerball someone won the $250,000,000 on Wednesday Jan 24th.
Thier web site states that if they take the cash they would walk away with approximately $83,000,000. This includes the penalty for taking the prize immediately and tax.
Alternatively they will pay 30 equal payments of around $8.3m. This will be subject to state and federal tax, as if you earned it in a job.
There is a more detailed explanation as to how they arrived at these figures on their web site.

Approx 115 million for the cash option, before taxes. After taxes, about 80 million.

Depends on the state that person lives in. If you live in a state that has high taxes, you're screwed!
