This mritmandal, prthvi, bhu mandal or earth is one of the planets in the jada jagat(material world) made up of the five material elements, namely, earth, water, fire, air, ether. Contrast to this is the place opposite of matter, ie., chit jagat(spiritual world).

In Bhagavad gita chapter 8, verse 20, Lord Krishna gives small information of this spiritual world
Yet there is another unmanifest nature, which is eternal and is transcendental to this manifested and unmanifested matter. It is supreme and is never annihilated. When all in this world is annihilated, that part remains as it is.

Actually, we as Atma(spirit soul) are sanatana(eternal), without beginning or end by nature. We have voluntarily accepted this jada deha(material body) and according to our karma(actions) get karma phala(frutive reaction or result). This leads to a new body according to the previous karma. In this way we have been rotating from body to body undergoing janma(birth), mritya(death) jara(old age) and vyadhi(disease). We should go back to the Sanatana Dhama(eternal place), the spiritual world and avoid all the suffering in the material world. This can be achieved by following strictly the teachings of Vedas, Puranas, Upanishads, Ramayana, Mahabharata, Bhagavad gita etc....

This is not mean one cannot achieve the same result by strictly following the same teachings presented in the Bible or Quran etc.
