It's not that difficult but as with everything, practice makes perfect. You must get a good tile cutter otherwise the tiles could break and the shapes won't be perfect and it will look bad. Try to apply the tile fix evenly and not too thick, it's just a case of trying till you get the feel for it. Keep checking that the tiles are straight and level by standing back and looking and by checking with a spirit level.
Get all the right equipment: tile cutter, rubber mallet, a spirit level, trowel, tile fix, grouting, tiles... The DIY shops are very helpful too. Oh yes, remember not to tile yourself into a corner! tee hee.
Good luck!

have a rough plan first, measure the room so that you minimise the cuting needed and start with a whole tile and fill in the gaps after. if possible make sure that the cut tiles go behind the sink or bath then they don't show or if not put the cut edges in to a corner. use little plastic sticks or match sticks to keep an even gap between the tiles, mark the walls with a sprit level to keep the tiles level. and when you grout them dont let it set too hard before wiping the excess off of the front or you will never get it off.

Don't panic...was in exactly the same position about six months ago and you know what....it's really not that big of a deal. Just make sure you plan it all out, get the right adhesive, grout, tile spacers. I wouldn't bother with a manual tile cutter if you know someone with an electric tile cutter borrow it if not hire one ...it'll be worth it! If buying tiles on special offer make sure you get an extra box cause if you mess up and they haven't got any more...well i'll leave the phrase 'you're .....' for you to complete! Good luck and just remember to put music on loud to cover the swearing!

start from the door with a full tile and go across the room never straight to the back wall.
The back wall will need to be cut so the crappy tiles can go there.
The best dressed tiles go in high traffic area.
Keep all off cuts and broken tiles this way you can use around sink pipes and vanity without cutting a perfectly good tile. make sure you wear eye protection if you are using a diamond tip cutter on an angle grinder

if you cut a tile into a corner use the off cut to start adjacent this way it gives the affect of a full tile and saves waste

Go to Home Depot or Lowes and purchase a book. After reading it you may decide to leave this job to the pros. You need to remove the toilet. You also need to remove the present floor and any laminate flooring under that. You need to start with a clean sub floor that has been screwed down. On top of the sub floor goes a sheet of Bakerboard (screwed down). Now you start the tiling.

It is quiet common now. Go to a tiles showroom and select your colour and design, that's all. Fix it.
