what can be done?
how about people not worrying about keeping up with the jones? how about adults being willing to do with a little less status in order to allow mothers to be home with their children?
how about decent paying jobs that pay the men enough money so that the wife can stay home and raise their children?
then how about the men making it home at night so everyone sits down at the dinnertable together for a home cooked meal.
how about being home and having cookies and milk ready when your son, or daughter, get home from school?
how about being home to go to the p.t.a. meetings? to go to their soccer games?
how about playing games with your children?
or spending time reading with your children?
how about spending time together as a loving family should?
how about being a parent?
why is it people feel the government should be doing something about it?
or companies?
or your boss?
or anyone other than the parent?
parents wanted their children, they should take care of them! if they didn't want them they should have used birth control.
having kids and farming them out to daycare so you can continue working, and then expecting the government, [read taxpayers here], to subsidize your daycare is beyond me.
and yes, before you go all haywire, i realize that there will always be extenuating circumstances whereby the mother and/or father does have to work, but by gosh, that isn't the norm. the norm is simply people being greedy and wanting more and more material things.
children are worth more than that! and they deserve your time, your attention, and your love. they deserve to feel like they are wanted and that they are not just another problem. the government can't give them that. you can.

In this busy world we live in it is sometimes hard to find a time when everyone in the family can get together. When my kids were younger we would have family time once a month on Sunday after church. We would go out to a nice restaurant and to a movie and make a day of it. Everyone looked forward to it. We would take a vote and see what movie and restaurant everyone wanted to eat at. We would look at the kids schedule and see when they had a Sunday free of sports, practice, or meetings and then schedule our family day.

we've lost pretty much the family lifestyle - of having a mother and father in the house. let's get back to basics where the family is the most important thing. the mother is there in the home and takes care of the kids. dad comes home from work and spends time with his kids, the whole family eats together. you talk. you listen. you help each other. you do things together as a family - go shopping, watch tv, go to church. go on vacations, play sports, etc. we can't blame companies or the government, it's up to us to make OUR family work. this is done with a lot of love, patience and understanding. we have to give of ourselves to make families work.

Family dinners, have a kind of game that you play with the whole family that is a joke thing or charades or something. The family that laughs together will always be happier. Take care Heather

best practice is to eat together i have set times we eat. supper is at 5pm exactly and they can bet we'll be eating at that time and at the table and sometimes they come now when they are married. so its good. I alsonever left them home alone till they were 18 and then hardly ever. its good to be there and that is what a family is eating at the table.

First of all, find something that you all love doing.
Why did board games ever go out of fashion?
I loved it when my family got together to play games like pictionary and trivial persuit when i was a kid.
The game "Boulderdash" rocks too.... as does "Taboo".
Even my videa game freak partner will leave the computer for a few hours when we pull these games out!!
