Chromosomes, memes, heredity, environment, nature/nurture, I don't care. Their bigotry is detrimental to society, and they have been handled with kid gloves for long enough because the minute anyone challenges them, they are accused of exactly the same thing. The reason that religion is so powerful is that everyone is expected to accord it more respect than they are expected to give other, equally-important beliefs, including non-belief. I'm not cutting them any slack just because they are delusional, and if that makes me a bigot, fine. I don't claim not to be one.

Neither. Everybody is born an atheist. Nobody has any belief in any gods until parents drill it into them. Most religious bigotry comes from the religion, itself. Religions teach intolerance by claiming that they are the one truth and everybody else is destined for hell. Religions use emotion to convert and keep converts. They build emotional bonds to the group. This accentuates in-group compassion and bonding, but it also accentuates out-group intolerance. Even religions that claim tolerance only seem to do so to the point they think they can convert someone. After that, it changes from "love thy enemy" to "don't throw pearls before swine".
The only thing that rivals religion in getting people to kill each other over nothing is nationalism.

For some it is a forced thing, like Germans & Hitler, others just have a dependant personality & see it as an easy answer that makes decisions for them.

No. I think being a Bigot is a conscious choice regardless of who you are and what you believe. Wouldn't you agree Hush-Hush?

Nurture. Nature. An age old question. Bigotry is just another word for prejudice: one who is intolerant of others' opinions. Sounds like everyone I know almost.

Do you realise you are attacking people with this comment, attacking people for reacting in the same way you yourself are acting.
