well, the way it is, is that the ultimate punishment originally, for sin, was death, and by dying that death for us, and then rising again, He defeated death, so that we didn't have to have that punishment. Pretty cool huh

Greetings!
This is a complicated answer and many theologans have disagreed over this concept. What I generally beileve is that when Adam and Eve committed the original sin, it authored what can be called "The Laws of Sin and Death." Since sin was introduced into the world, every human being was subject to this law and dies in sin. Prior to Christ's arrival mankind was subject to laws set forth by God in the book of Leviticus, laws which were impossible to live up to.
Yet when The Christ was born (fully man and yet fully God) he was sinless. When he was nailed to the cross to die for a "crime" it was unrighteously. So He, being sinless and technically exempt from the Law, died. Ergo the law was broken and null-and-void.
Essentially, God broke the law purposely so mankind was exempt. The "new law" is now accepting Christ, acknowledging sin, and repenting.
I hope this helped. It can be VERY complex!
All my best,
-S-

The wages of sin is death. The law convicted every man. God is righteous. A righteous God could not merely say is is okay because you repent...repentance does not make a person clean...God knew man was created with a sin nature and had a plan for his creation from before the foundation of the world and that plan was to come to the world in the flesh of a man Jesus Christ to overcome temptation and remain perfect and to pay the penalty of death for all who will accept the atonement of Jesus Christ.

It was never necessary for Jesus to die for our sins, he paid the price for the hearts worth saving. I would too.

Because Jesus was sinless and it took a sacrifice of one without sins to save mankind from their sins.Asking Jesus to forgive you from your sins and believing that He is the Son of God.And asking Him to come into your heart results in the salvation of your soul and you will live forever in heaven with Jesus.

yes.
the purpose of his life was to grant us with the father's word and wisdom. the purpose of his death was to erase the sins of man.
god cannot allow anything less than perfect into heaven to tarnish the perfect harmony within heaven. the wages of sin is death. man sins, therefore man dies. jesus didn't sin, but he did die. jesus was a sacrifice, perfect and unjustly discriminated. if jesus died without the acquisition of mans sins, a void in the cosmos would've ripped apart the universe, had jesus died without man's sins, god's proclomation that sin inherits death would have been invalid, god would have been fallable, and existence would cease to be.

The penalty for sin is death, as Jesus took all our sins He had to die, He paid the penalty for our sins so if we believe in Him, & follow His example we shall be free of sin.

For God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten Son...
to die on the cross for our sins.
We are the sinners, and his punishment is our salvation. It is like putting the burden of your sins on to Him.

It's called human sacrifice. Essentially, no one deserves to be forgiven by the Christian god unless they give a blood sacrifice to him. He finally got tired of having animals killed in his name and moved on up to humans. Not any human, but his own son. Sounds like a gentle, loving and forgiving God doesn't He?
