My mom has severe fibromyalga, so severe, her doctors wont allow her to work anymore, so she is attempting to get on disability. She also has blood pressure and heart problems, so there are limited options for prescription pain relief. Does anybody know of some safe natural remedies to help ease her pain?

Also, is Fibromyalga inherited?

I have Fibromyalgia. It has left me completely disabled and I now receive social security. So I understand how devastating this condition is. What I find helps me the most to control the pain is deep tissue massage. No pill or vitamin supplement is as effective as a qualified therapist working on my body. See if you can find one in your area or perhaps your doctor knows of one.

Many people claim cures for Fibromyalgia, but unfortunately there is none. I do recommend a Multi vitamin everyday to replenish the body. And I find that Coenzyme Q10 100mg three times daily helps increase energy and is very good for heart problems.

A good diet is very important with this condition. Reducing as much sugar and fats as possible is helpful. Whole grains, seeds, nuts, yogurt, chicken, Turkey, organic beef, tofu, beans, egg whites, natural cheese, cottage cheese, vegetables and fruits should form the base of your diet. Protein should be the building block of nutrition. Consuming fruits and vegetables in their most natural form provides the most minerals and vitamins. Green vegetables provide incredible minerals that our body needs to help absorb vitamins as well as necessary fiber. Fresh fruit provides minerals, fiber and natural waters that are absorbed on a cellular level.

if you have any further questions please let me know.

Since she has heart trouble I would strongly advise you not to give her any homeopathic or herbal remedies/medicines. They are not proven to be safe and effective and can have "herbal" forms of salicylic acid (derivative like aspirin) in them which if not taking by doctor's advice could very well cause major blood thinning and the inability to stop bleeding should it occur. With the limited number of narctoic pain meds available, she will have to find out by trial and error and find the best one that way, There is a new one on the market called Opana and Opana ER its generic name is oxymorphone hcl. It is not known if fibromyalgia is inherited. They don't know for sure what causes it. There is some speculation that neck injuries bring it on somehow but the mechanism is not known. I have it too and so do a few of my aunts, it could be we don't know for sure.
