It is usually because it is the topic they feel most comfortable with and is waiting for a reaction from you on one of the topics and build from there. Show some interest in what he is saying or flat out disagree with something he's saying and and try to take the conversation over to your side. But the main reason is because that's what guys do.

there is only two reasons that i can think of why us men do this sort of thing. one he must really like you and is trying a little to hard to impress you. this should start letting up after 3 or 4 months of dating. if it doesn't then get out of the relationship because he may have the second reason. he could be a guy who is overly stuck on himself. hope this helps.
