By checking out wether their teachings are actually in the Bible if they arethen you are ok if not thenit is as you say a counterfeit religion, the beliefs ashould be based on the Bible teachings not on any human, your priest parentsyour minister all may not know the truth, how funny that you mention coutefeit false religion, how do peple find countefeit notes of money, do theysearch all of the counterfeit notes they can?If they did they would be wasting their time and that is not neccessary as with religion but what is done is that when looking to find the countefeit notes they familliarise themselves with the true notes of what real money looks like so that then by comparison they can tell when they have one that is counterfeit so it can also be with religion too, the Bible explains what the true religion should be likeand by learning about what the true religion should be like by what the Bible says you can then tellif the religion you have embraced is true or not, by the things the practice and teach, this is how I found out about mine.Basing your beliefs on the Bible you can be certain about what is truth and what isn't.

With the millions of religions, belief systems, cults, messiahs, prophets, and proposed spiritual paths in the world, each claiming the be the One True Path, I know my chances are minimal of picking "the" right one. So I make up my beliefs as I go along, and change them on a regular basis, just to keep them fresh and interesting. I have the same chance of being right as anybody else does.
Week before last, it was atheism with a smidgen of SubGenius, Discordianism, and nontheistic Buddhism. Last week, I almost went full-blown pantheist but got distracted by some old-school Roman gods for a few days. This week, it's back to the pantheism, leaning toward panentheism and a bit of Gaia Theory, with a lot of "Jesus was from outer space" thrown in for kicks.

When Man came down out of the trees sixty five thousand years ago. He rubbed two sticks together and proclaimed let there be light and there was fire. Shaman took this miracle invention of fire starting and created a religion by which to control the masses. All religions are a knock off from the original. God bless enjoy your choice it descent matter which one you choose as long as you enjoy it.

You cannot know, this is why you should be good to all people not just the ones in your religion. The Jews assumed they had the truth but Jesus Christ fooled them. The only truth is the one you get from reading the Bible for yourself not take any man's word for what it says. This is why there is so much confusion in the world is because too many people never read the book and take another man's word for what it says or what it means rather than reading it themselves

I think yours is a very good question because all religious disciplines believe only they have the true teachings.
I ask myself why others who have never studied outside the religious faith in which they were raised, can be absolutely SURE
of their belief?
I know many are too afraid to step outside what they have always been taught. Others have just decided to take the path of least resistance; it's what most others believe so it must be true.
My studies of religious text have lead me to the practice of Buddhism.

Ive often thought about this same question. I myself believe, there isnt one heaven filled with those of one certain religion. I believe they are all worthy of attention and all offer something to gain spiritually. That spirituality is the gift. The different religions are just the wrapping paper, not affecting the gift insde.

We can know the truth by reading the Holy Books and putting the sacred verses into peactice. If we receive the light of guidance, we feel happy, we make people around us happy, then we can be assured that our faith is true. If we are confused, we must reread the Holy Books and correct our deeds suitably until when we feel really assured. Comments of people around us cannot be considered as a guide, but only a reference.

My faith is my own. My relationship with Jesus is a personal relationship. I question everything, & pray for guidance. I have come to the conclusion people are wrong quite a lot of the time, but I am yet to find one wrong word from Jesus, He will guide us through the darkness & bring the truth out in the open..
