I don't know whether there is such software or not, but there is a trick to do the thing you need.
First, copy the cell content & paste it in MS Word. Or, select all to copy the entire sheet.
Then, run the Word Count in Tools menu.
You can get many informations from Word Count. Including, how many characters you have.

Use MS-note. go with the finished worksheet and reproduction it to the clipboard. Paste it right into a note record, then bypass to equipment > note count number. The pop-up will allow you to recognize the way many words are contained in the record.
