Is this a must before you use a self tanner? Exfoliate all over, right? What do you recommend using (anything cheap)?

you can make your own scrub just use a shower gel mix with castor sugar (the one that is finer than normal sugar) and scrub away the sugar will dissolve when you rinse of the shower gel you need to exfoliate to remove dead skin otherwise your fake tan will rubb of to fast and your skin will have patches left fake tan will stick longer to a smooth skin.

I don't, it's not a must at all, as far as I'm concerned! But I supose it's a good idea still!
I have a spray one in a can, which is really great, but after a few days it rubs off and looks patchy and not-very nice at all! lol.
But you can get other types of tanner, like, lotions, which are good and I fun they dont rub off like that particular spray on one!
I haven't used a spray-on tan that you get, like, profesionally done. I imagine that might be expensive though!
The tanners that I've used haven't been expensive.

Exfoliating removes any dead skin cells. It's not a must. It does help make your tan more even and won't fade so quickly when you shower. Any exfoliate will work. I have also used just a wash cloth or lufa sponge.
