Yes, cappachino would be very nice with red & cream (red & green are ONLY for XMAS!!!) ! Have you thought how gorgeous red & black are together ? Perhaps you could find a wall paper with the 3 colors in it?
Or if youre tired of the red carpet, pull it up and go with a floating laminated floor! I hear theyre easy to install and are gorgeous when down. If your carpet's new and you want to keep it they can put an edging around your carpet & you can use it as a room-size carpet when you need to or roll it up and have bare wood floors when you want to. Happy Decorating !!!

How big is the room, and how high the ceilings? This would have an effect on what you can do. You could introduce a focus wall, maybe the fireplace wall, or the one opposite the window, and ignore what someone said about not putting red and green together. the saying is actually about blue and green, but anyway, reds and greens are complimentary colours. The effect can be stunning especially if you get a green of the same tonal value as your carpet. Or you could look at putting wallpaper on one wall, something that had the red in it, and then use one of the other colours from the paper on the rest.

cream and red is a good combination, as red is a difficult colour to match with. I would soften the red with shades of softer rose and pink, as throws over the furniture or cushions, and a perhaps some soft rose curtains. I think you can pull this look together but you don't want to introduce a third colour into the room, just softer tones of the existing colours.

You poor thing, having a red carpet. I hope that it was 'inherited'.

Whatever else, do not paint your walls red. It will look like a cross between a curry restaurant and a bodello and you will tire of it soon.

Try wallpaper.. I'm sure that you could find one with a colour mix and pattern that would suit.

Hi!

I don't now if you like bold colors, but you should try painting one wall (or maybe 2) a dark plum purple.

In my family room... I had cream carpet, cream leather furniture and beige walls. It was so blah. So I ended up painting one wall a red/orange color and another wall a dark deep purple (the other two walls I left beige). Then I bought red, burnt red/orange, gold, and dark purple pillows for the cream couches and rugs for the floor.

When I tell people about the color of my family room, everyone is like "yuck". But when they see it, they are surprised by how nice it looks.

If purple is too bold for your tastes, I hear painting one wall (or two) a sage green is good against red.

Best Wishes...
T.

Go with autumn tones and the red carpet and cream suite will just blend in, especially if you add autumn coloured cushions. A bit of brown, a bit of orange (burnt of course) a splash of red (the carpet) and autumn is here.

a light brown should complement the cream and red. get some colour charts or tester pots and see what works for you.
