My living room and bedroom are all one room.... what would make a good divider? A curtain type hanging or a board-type divider or something I can store something in as well as space is minimal... any ideas? I really want to make my bed area still feel like a private sanctuary and just a place to sleep etc.! Thanks

An old school (but totally cool) way would be a bead curtain. Also, I've used blinds if you have something to hang them from. I've also used office dividers. A kind of tacky method is beach towels. If you have room you could put a row of bookshelves or an entertainment center there.

Book shelves would be good and always useful when you move; also you could screw small wheels under some so they can be easily moved around. The ones with wheels could have just displays in them not heavy and not breakable for obvious reasons. You could also purchase hinged screens 3 or 4 hinges they are good to throw the ocassional item over (towels gowns etc) or you could make them yourself fairly easily rectangular ply wood ( you choose size) with 3 hinges attaching each one. You could also get office screens used from disposal stores or try phoning around. They need to fit in your car or you could hire a trailer. Another idea is a curtain rod.Good sheets can be used for curtains just sow hem on top or tape for curtain rings purchased in curtain or material shop where you could have them sewn if you do not know of a machine (Older machines for sewing can be hired also at minimum cost fairly easy to use and a good skill to take the trouble in learning) so good luck and happy decorating

i would get some 2x2x8' Half-studs. and some deck screws and make a stud wall (a stud every 2 feet would be fine) and make it as tall as the ceiling, so it can hold it self up.(make it fit tight up against the ceiling) and just get some large cardboard from a big box, like a refrigerator, and staple it to the stud frame. then you can paint it, or whatever you want. It would be fast and easy to make, cost next to nothing, and be light weight. If you want to spend a little more, you could get some cheap, 10.00 a sheet paneling, instead of the cardboard. Or you could get cinderblocks and shelving material and make an easy shelf around your bed as high as was nessesary to give you wall around . then you would have shelves, and you could still affix the cardboard or something to one side of the shelving to seal it off from the other section of the room.

Two ideas I see are the best. If you are skillful you can make the bookshelves, you can even put the wheels on them just make sure you have some heavy items stored in the bottom shelves to keep it's center of gravity low & hopefully keep it from falling over -- you might have to screw them to ceiling rafters or use guy-wires to hold them from falling ( I know a girl who had a heavy bookshelf topple onto her and she is paralized now -- so SAFETY 1ST !!!!!!!!!!)
yOU COULD DO THE 2X2X8' WALL or a 2x4x8' wall. You could also use drywall on it. The PROs atLOWES can teach you how to tape & mud the joints (paneling is ok, but limited in looks). Remember to attach this wall to the rafters also -- SAFETY 1ST !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! hOPE it works out well for you! barbie

It depends on how much room you have really, but a storage system would be the best answer, if you have the space. If space is at a premium how about a fold away screen, that way it could be a private sanctuary most of the time, but able to be opened up if you have lots of friends round.
