so i want to propose to my girl. i want some ideas to integrate into my own. i was wondering if anyone has any cute ideas. she's a kind of shy girl, so nothing like on the big screen at a basketball game or something...if there were to be other people than it'd have to be close family/friends. she also likes the color pink. and she loves chocolate (what girl doesn't? :-p) she's a girly girl, so don't be shy with you're advices. i just need a whole bunch of ideas. thanks!

I was washing the dishes, and wearing really 'sloppy' clothes when my husband (we've been married ten years) 'popped the question.' By doing it when I felt and looked lousy, he told me that it didn't matter to him how 'good' I looked, but did say that he did want to spend the rest of our lives together. Nowadays, he does most of the cooking at night, and all of the dishes in the morning before he goes to work, because I had two heart attacks and have rheumatoid arthritis and can't do that any more ... and if I say that I was 'bad' because I didn't do any housework, he says 'Good!' and really means it. So give her a 'real surprise' and propose when and where she could NEVER expect it, and she'll have something to 'brag about' forever. As for a really romantic but 'cheap' wedding, we took our minister and his wife and a few family on friends and got married on a ferry. I've been married before, so I didn't have the 'big white dress' but wore something simple, and most of the 'other passengers on the ferry 'came to the wedding' too (it was fun for them even if we didn't know them, and was fun for us, too) ... and we got married on Valentine's Day ... my husband NEVER forgets our anniversary. This year is our 10th, so we are going to be on the same ferry route, at the same time we got married ... just the two of us. We'll be 'the old couple' with eyes only for each other' on the trip.

Girly-girl, huh? Pick one of her close friends that you trust (who will say nothing to your girl) to help you with this plan:
1. Have the friend of hers hand deliver a dress in her size with a note and single pink rose from you.
(In the note tell her a time and place she needs to meet you)
2. Have the meeting place take her to another location that has another note and pink rose from you
(in the next note write something sentimental and another place she needs to meet you)
3. When she arrives be standing (in a suit) with a dozen white and pink roses. Tell her how much you love her....it is all down hill after that! At this point you can present the ring in a ring box made of chocolate (find a local chef you can make one for you!)
(Make this location really romantic with tea lights everywhere ...or at a romantic location like an outdoor fountain etc....After all this you all can go to a nice dinner!)

If you want family and friends around, then I know what a friend of ours did! He rented out the back room at a resturaunt and had all of her friends and family there. He told her they were just going to dinner with some friends, then the friends girlfriend asked her to walk to the bathroom with her before they went to the table. While she did that he got ready! He entered the back room, the waiters poured the champagne and got everything ready, when she rounded the corner he was on one knee, with all of theri friends and family waiting with champagne ready to toast! (He had brought in everyone from out of town for this, he and her had moved away for college, so no family was near by). She thought it was amazing! And of course-she said yes!

Since she likes pink, have the room decorated with pink tablecloths and black and silver accessories maybe! Have pink flowers and do it up in all pink! Maybe even see if you could get some pink chair colors! (make sure this is classy and not cheesy all pink, there is a difference!) There is a champagne that is pink, you gould get that for everyone to toast to! (I have gotten it from World Market before, but I'm sure any liqour store could get it!)
Then since she likes chocolate, have a major chocolate dessert!
Good luck!

Romantic proposals are the best thing for a girl. My husbands proposal wasn't as romantic as those described in the other answers, but something that he did that made it supper special for the rest of my life is that he recorded the proposal and i have it on video. He proposed to me valentines day at 12am so i did not expect it.
Good Luck!
(after you do it, make sure she reads this posts. she will find it cute to know that you put this much thought into your proposal.)

Please don't do it at a restuarant. How about a nice picnic and you can pick up some cupcakes for dessert and pick one with pink icing to press the ring into (if you have one, otherwise have them ice 'will you marry me?' on them) Be different and do it somewhere totally unromantic, like in the car or while she is doing her hair in the morning. Say that you didn't want to create a pretense and that all you want is to see her doing the same little things, right next to you for the rest of your life.

take her to the same place that you had your first date. start out by telling her all the reasons why you fell in love with her and then you won't be able to stop yourself from asking her,the words will just come out. trust me. simplicity is so much more romantic than any extravagant proposal in the world. if it's possible, have her family and a few close friends hiding somewhere to surprise her after you ask. think about the jewelry commercials. they know how to do it. simple.

Buy her a box of chocolates and put the ring inside. Have her open the box with close family around. After she opens it, get down on one knee. Good luck!

I spent a day going around to shops buying little things that she might like or that reminded me of her and worked it out with the store employees to have a scavenger hunt... it ended up at Chilli's (her favorite) where my whole family was there and I popped the question.

She loved it, she said it scared the hell out of her because she kinda knew it was coming but wasn't sure...I guess the anticipation was a killer :o)

I think the cutest thing I have ever seen when it comes to a proposal is a scavanger hunt. Set clues around your city ... like at your favorite places, and send her off to them. Once she gets through all the clues... you're the last one, waiting for her with the ring.
