How can i protect my laptop which i bought in USA, being NOT BLOW OFF when used with the Indian Power supply? Does the use of Step-Up transformer/Step-Down transformer ensure the protection 100%? Are there any other efficient and safe options available to make electrical appliances work in INDIA (bought in US)? When should we use Step-Down or Step-Up transformer?
Which company/brand (for transformers or any other option suggested by you) is good to buy for use in INDIA?

I am also a consumer and not a computer wiz, I try to explain based on my experience.

Transformers are used to step down/up the voltage.

AVR (Automatic Voltage Regulator) also acts as a transformer with line filter, and overload protection, this is good with some range of power fluctuation.

UPS (Un-interrupted Power Supply) this are AVR with batteries

Since you are using a laptop, it has a Power Adapter, it converts your AC power to DC Power, if something has to blow off it will be your adapter and not the laptop, and the laptop has a battery, depending on the age and usage if power interruption occurs you can save your work.

On practical side, it would be much wiser to go to your local computer store and purchase a new adapter. It will be designed based on your county AC power, or you could bring a transformer, AVR, UPS along with your laptop.

Also, coffee and laptop do not mix, if you don't want your laptop to blow off.

First Check the rating of the electronic equipment's adapter. If they accept input from 230v to 110v and 60hz to 50hz, then you only need multiplug or plug converter. For other electrical and electronics that don't accept 220v, you need a step down converter. Electrical motors (blender, vacuum cleaner, etc) will not work on 220v coz the way they are designed.

Christ...if you have tons of equipment.....A Box for EVERY UNIT doesn't MAKE SENSE.....

BUT a USA SINE WAVE GENERATOR with a 12 to 17 Kilowatt rating will run washers, refrigerators and TVs and Laptops.....
About $3000

Better yet, just buy an Indian Laptop and pull out your hard drive and install it in your new laptop....

That's the BEST way to steal our technology.....
