180 thread count is ok for a young person just starting out, someone on a budget, or for a seldom used guest room. It should last many years as it's not supposed to be washed (unless regretably someone ate in bed & spilled on it, but I'd hope they'd pull the comforter way away from themselves while eating -- if it's allowed in bed in your house). If it's for your room then make sure you protect it from food as washing it will likely fade it & it wont match the shams or bedskirt in color intensity after washing. If you have to wash it, wash it in cold water with a gentle soap like woolite.
Best never to wash a comforter and if you ever have to dont wash it in a home machine as being so large it wont wash well in home machine AND THE WEIGHT OF A WET COMFORTER COULD DAMAGE OR RUIN YOUR HOME WASHER !!! Take it to coin laundry & use their biggest machine, better yet -- have it dry cleaned & be sure to tell them if it's stained, what the stain is & where it is b4 U leave it with them!
As for sheets for your bed, try to buy 400 count, they last twice as long -- perhaps three times as long!!! I try to buy what's called Hotel Linens which have 600 count, feel MARVELOUS & are not that expensive!!! I had sheets that lasted well over 20 years for not that much more than cheap 200 count sheets, which only last about 3 years!!! Bed,Bath, & Beyond have them & so do Linens & Things, both companies have excellent coupons-off in their flyers which you probably get in your mailbox! One of them has 20% off on any item!!! The other has a $5 coupon. Always buy the best you can afford!!! Try not to ever bleach your sheets it rots them (stains like blood can be removed much better with amonia).
But a 180 count comforter set will last you & as inexpensive as they are you can switch styles from season to season if you like -- extending the life of each set (1/2 the use). HAPPY DECORATING !!!

The higher the thread count the tighter the weave the softer and more durable the fabric. Mainly sheets are the ones you need to be concerned with. Comforters do not get washed as often and are not usually right next to your skin so you don't really have to be concerned with softness. Bed in bags mostly have the same thread count of the comforter and sheet set.

Thread count means durability, the higher the thread count the more wash and wear you will get out of the product (also it is less likely to lose it's shape) 180 thread count is quite reasonable.
The company I used to work for carried from 130 - 235 thread count and all at very reasonable prices. Our comforter sets usually sold for around AU$65.00 up, that included valance(dust ruffle, 2 p/cases, comforter (filled) and three scatter cushions.Needless to state my linen cupboard is overflowing.

I have seen and slept on sheets with thread counts of up to 400. The difference between that and 180 is not that detectable except for the price.

I wont buy sheets with a thread count of less than 200 as the sheet don't last. They tend to be thinner and most times when you wash them they pill. (that's when they get little balls on the surface of the sheet and it's really uncomfortable) You will get a much better nights sleep on better bedding.
Oh and to the person who has slept on bedding with 400 count, wow that would be divine!

Youre right, the colors would look great with brown. Your walls should be a little bit of a creamish color to match the base color too, white's too drab at least cream is SOME color. You can find just regular frames and print out pictures off google of whatever you want to save money and get exactly what you want.

The higher the thread count the more threads there are in a square inch? i believe. It just makes it more comfy, durable and more expensive.
