Actually, I do not think it is a stupid question at all. I think my Steve effectively died of boredom. Boredom brings depression, which can bring suicide. You can think you are losing your ability to think and feel. A person who is bored and does not feel his brain being stimulated goes numb, almost like a drugged person, and then gets a sort of mental hunger that's not easily satisfied. It's sort of like what your stomach does when you've fasted for days. If you eat too much or too rich food too soon, you will not be able to retain it. So it is with a brain turning to mush from boredom and passive input like television.
Remember, folks, television will not CURE boredom. Like a drug, it blunts it, and in doing blunts the senses and the ability to feel and think. I sometimes think television is the only really dangerous drug the government actively supports!

A broken heart maybe, not boredom. You brain just is screaming for some kind of stimulation, you came here to YA and that's a good start, think about your interests, start a new hobby, join a club to meet new friends or try a new sport, workout, try bowling, take nature walks, visit an art museum, volunteer in your community or simply read a book or magazine. A busy body keeps the mind busy too, if it idles too long it's called boredom. Be brave get creating, we all have faith in you! Smile and have fun! Sincerely, OneDreamCaster

This isn't a stupid question.
Over 15 years ago there was a report on babies in Romania in orphanages. They were having a serious problem with them simply dying. It seemed since they were not being picked up, handled, or anything done with them, they would just... die. After they changed their practices they started doing better.
While this isn't entirely related, it shows that there is a great deal of mental and physical connection that may not be understood. Being just plain bored won't kill you, but years of absolute boredom I have no doubt will shorten your life significantly, and maybe... kill you. Talk to many older people and look at the those who live the longest. You will find that they are the ones who keep themselves busy.
