I would describe the way we got the Phillippines as the spoils of a war against Spain.
Of course, less than 50 years later the US granted full sovereignty to the Philippines.

The US acquired the Phillipines as part of the settlement of the Spanish-American War. Many Filipinos didn't notice, but from the start the US form of imperialism showed itself different from classic European imperialism by announcing that the Philippines would gain independence, though in keeping with the times it was felt that an intermediate period of development was needed. The Moros and others didn't see it that way, of course, and events delayed the process, but there was never an intent to keep the Philippines in American hands.

Sadly America chooses who they will allow to keep their countries after they defeat them.
it is unquestionable as warriors and con corers The USA has some UN-moral reasons such as investment of oil rights rubber and any other element that the supporters of the presidency needs to make more money and have more control over the world. just look at Cuba, they have never forgotten Fidel.
or will tr hey ever give up their investments because of the so called coup of the American puppets that were running Cuba like Sodom and Gomorrah. how about the Hawaii islands they stole this country from the people and have not given it back the native people own all the rights to this island not America but they wont let it go why? because they are the great power of the world but don't understand in order to truly have power they must allow the countries to survive on their own and be grateful of the gift the Americas gave them in returning their natural rights. Don't' worry my friend America has reached it pinnacle as far as strength no one fears them anymore and that is the only thing that kept them powerful just like Hitler and Nazi Germany they will fall to the entire world when all the evidence is produced at the world crime tribunal sometime in our lifetime
i pray for your strength and patients in this occupation it will end soon

I think it was an excellent, straight-forward, no haggle method:
The US Navy sunk the Spanish ships, and moved in. Simple.
Warfare: unlike diplomacy, it's always decisive when done properly.

Imperialism. Haven't you ever heard of "Manifest Destiny"?
We are endowed by our creator to spread democracy around the world... and in return steal the resources.
