I communicate a community American language -- Lakota. that's my first language. English is 2d. i visit by no skill know Enlgish as an expert language, or Spanish the two, yet shifting to a rustic and refusing to assessment or know the language that the popular public of this is electorate communicate is idiotic.

Why study Spanish? With economic shift about to happen to the East (China, India, Japan) would it not make more sense to learn Mandarin, Hindi or Japanese so that in this increasingly globalized economy we can speak in the language of our biggest trading partners?

no use, I won't be around to see that. I'm still training them to speak and understand English. I can say that if I ever learned Spanish it would be to listen in to the conversations rather than to speak it.

It won't. Even if hispanics become a majority, a lot of second and higher generation ones don't speak spanish, or don't speak it as their first language.

I speak English and Chinese. I know basic Spanish too...not too worried, if all else fails, i speak Chinese and hopefully someon will understand!
